Thank you for your interest in Old Dominion Dairy Goats.  We are located in the historic Northern Neck of Virginia, which is a rural area with an agricultural and water based local economy nestled between the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers. We are located approximately sixty miles northeast of Richmond, sixty miles southeast of Fredericksburg, and sixty miles south of the Harry D. Nice Bridge, which connects Virginia to Maryland.

We have been the shepherds of caprines for eighteen years.  What a wonderful journey it has been.  The draw of the classic and simplistic elegance of the Saanen was too great to resist.   At first it was an attraction to the all white appearance.  Later it became admiration of their exceptional temperament and unwavering work ethic.  I cannot imagine a day in my life without my Saanens.

We raise dairy animals, first and foremost. We believe a healthy animal that milks well will always have a home.  We pride ourselves on herd health, nutrition, and our management style.  We feed a custom grain mix that is tailored for each stage of growth and lactation.  We have been CAE testing since 2000 and all does in our herd have tested negative.  The majority of our kids are reared on strict CAE prevention methods, pulling kids as birth and feeding pasteurized milk and colostrum.  We occasionally miss a birth but are confidant of our herd’s health due to years of testing.  We notify all potential buyers if a kid has suckled its Dam and will provide copies of the testing results.

We take pride in the quality of our does, the depth of their pedigrees, and the ability of our does to milk.  We firmly believe excellence begets excellence.  Our goal is to breed for strong conformation, knowing form follows function, long and level lactations from does that milk in the area of 2800 pounds, true gallon a day milkers.

Our bucks are a source of great pride.  Their pedigrees include impeccable genetics, conformational correctness, beautiful udders, and milk.  We are very pleased to have in our herd superior bucks.  The following bucks are at our farm and were used this breeding season.

  • Araby Farm SKM Maverick  is now our oldest.  He is heavily line bred on the Albanhaus herd with the influences of ++*B Willow Run V.Q. Scorpion King and +*B SGCH Willow Run Braveheart Kahuna.  It really doesn't get much better than this.
  • Old Dominion Beautiful Sailor is the offspring of Companeros Clinton Admiral and SGCH Old Dominion Beach Ball Bella.  Bella appraised 92 and is the perfect compliment to the infusion of the Companeros herd.

We love the kidding process and freshen more does than we realistically want to milk on a daily basis.  We will have several milkers and the majority of our kid crop available for sale in the spring.  If something catches your eye, let us know.  Please take a few minutes to look through our web site.  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

A $100.00 deposit will hold your kid of choice.  Deposits will be immediately refunded in the event your kid is not born.  If you would like to insure you get your Old Dominion kid in 2012 please reserve a second choice kid as a backup.  The remainder of the purchase price is due within ten days of notification of birth.  We require pick up of your kid by one month old.  If you are unable to rear your kid until weaning for any reason we will rear kids for an additional charge.  Prices are subject to change on kids that are not preordered.  Discounts for multiple purchases will be negotiated via private treaty.
